Ah, snow snow and more snow. It's been coming down steadily for at least five days. Half an hour after walking out there today my tracks were covered over. It's so beautiful. Now it looks like Alaska.
A new DTS has started this last week with seven students from US and Canada. While CallaLilly is in lectures and meetings, BearHunter or our childcare worker watches Squeakums. I still make sure I get plenty of baby time every day, however. We feel strongly that it's important for dad and I to be the people he is around the most, since we're raising him. We love speaking to him affirmations before he can literally understand us. But I think he still receives or understands in his heart the motive behind our words and tone of voice and eye contact. Eye contact is apparently very important for a baby's development! Amazing, huh. He is such a pleasant little guy.
Just yesterday while dad and I were in our bedroom watching him, Squeakums gets himself to a standing position in his crib for the first time. We had just lowered the crib mattress in case he stood and might fall out. So we lowered it one more notch after that. He is so eager to walk. He scoots around pretty well though it's not very graceful crawling yet. Can't leave him on beds anymore, or hardly anywhere actually. Changing diapers is a huge challenge when he's being active (rolling over) which is actually quite often. Strengthens our patience. He's worth every moment.

Neat, neat, neat!!! I love hearing about the progress of Squeakums. I think Callalily and Bear Hunter are doing a great job as parents - what with spending a lot of time with Squeakums. Anyway, keep up the good work - before you know it S will be going to college.

Glad to hear you got to go home over the holidays. Did you get in touch with Bear Hunter's family in the Seattle area. I bet they would love to see you. Make sure Squeakums crawls, he needs all the on the floor time he can get!!!
Love the blogs
